David Mamet’s American Buffalo, a still-potent exemplar of his vision of the corrosive world of male power, greed, loyalty and violent competition, returns to Broadway with a stellar cast headed by Emmy winner Laurence Fishburne (Thurgood, The Matrix). In this 1975 drama, set in a Chicago junk shop, Fishburne is Donny, owner of the shop, who suspects he has undersold a rare buffalo nickel, and plots to steal it back. The cast also includes Academy Award winner Sam Rockwell (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) and Emmy winner Darren Criss (Hedwig and the Angry Inch, “The Assassination of Gianni Versace”). Neil Pepe, Tony-winning Artistic Director of Atlantic Theater Company, directs.
